JVDE came into contact with Lagon through the wider network around Luke Belmar. His own project and Direction are independent, but there was overlap in how he thought about human narratives and reality-contact.

He also helped provide useful context around Luke. The conversations remained friendly, but 12:12 continued on its own path rather than becoming directly connected to the signal.
