Direction

Direction describes where a structure applies its capacity and what that application makes increasingly likely.

Two structures can possess similar Mass and move toward very different outcomes. The difference is not how much they can affect, but where that capacity is directed.

Direction becomes visible through repeated action and consequence.

A company may have capital, talent and distribution. Those capacities reveal what it can do. Its decisions and consequences reveal where that capacity is taking it.

The same applies to a person, institution or civilisation. Skills, resources, authority and technology create capacity. Direction is revealed by how those capacities are used and what they repeatedly make more likely.

Direction is not the same as intention.

A structure may intend one outcome while consistently producing another. Its actual Direction is revealed through behaviour and consequence.

Direction can then be evaluated as Forward or Drag.

Forward preserves or increases coherent future possibility. Drag progressively reduces it.

A structure can therefore possess significant Mass while directing that capacity toward increasing contradiction.

The practical question is simple:

Where is this structure actually heading, and what future is it making more probable?

That is Direction.
